Al hablar de familia seguro se nos vienen a la cabeza recuerdos lindos, algunos no tanto, quizás algunos problemitas y desentendidos, ¡pero así son las familias! Y cada integrante tiene un papel importante en esta estructura base de la sociedad.
En el episodio de hoy haremos una práctica de escucha con el vocabulario aprendido en las últimas dos lecciones, 063 y 064. Hagamos memoria, saquemos nuestros apuntes y ¡a prestar mucha atención!

Hi students! Are you ready for a new episode? ¿Están listos para un nuevo episodio?
Insistimos que este tipo de ejercicio cumple con varios objetivos, pero sobre todo les ayuda a afinar el oído integrando vocabulario que ya estudiamos. Además es una fuente de motivación ya que nos permite desafiar nuestras habilidades.
En el episodio de hoy escucharemos un breve ensayo sobre la familia de Jim. Es una oportunidad para poner atención a la lectura del texto y hacer el intento de percibir elementos de vocabulario.
Antes de la lectura, ¡repasemos un poco el vocabulario!

My family by Jim Peterson
What’s my family like? That’s an interesting question. I have a big family, it isn’t perfect but we try to help each other all the time. There are eight members in my family. That includes my grandparents, my father, my mother, my two sisters, my brother, and me. I have many aunts, uncles, and cousins but they don’t live with us. Fortunately, we all meet at birthdays, holidays, and any other occasion to celebrate.
I love spending time with my grandpa. His name is Robert. He is 65 and he was a mechanic. He still likes to fix all kinds of things at home. My grandma, Tina, is very sweet and she is always baking cookies and pies for us. She is a great baker. They are my father’s parents.
My parents are very patient with us. My dad is 45 and he works in the town newspaper, he is a journalist. His name is Robert too because he was named after his father. My mom’s name is Sally. She is 43 and she is a teacher at an elementary school. Kids love her! They both work really hard.
I have two sisters and one brother. My sisters’ names are Tracy and Alice, they are twins. They are 20 years old and they study at a college near home. They are great students. Their marks are awesome!
My brother is 18 years old and his name is Jason. He is a student at high school. He also has a part-time job. He is always tired because he does many things all day. He wants to continue studying when he graduates.
As I said before, I have many aunts, uncles, and cousins but my favorites are uncle Paul and aunt Jenna. Uncle Paul is my mother’s brother and aunt Jenna is his wife. They have a son and a daughter. They are also my favorite cousins! We love spending time together!
What about me? My name is Jim and I am 16 years old. I’m at high school, like my brother. I want to be an engineer so that’s why I try to be a good student and get good marks. I also try to be tidy and order my bedroom but sometimes I fail.
This is my family. As you can see we love each other and we like to meet most of the time. Sometimes, we have some differences but we try to talk about the problems and find a solution. Love and respect is the key!
